Many times, in my experience, the wrapping of a gift has been more exciting than the contents. So too was it with the packing material that came with new shelving. Just the ‘materiality’ of it all was so satisfying and intriguing. In the words of artist Tony Cragg, “ I change material with my hands, the material itself changes my mind. It is a dialogue in which the material always has the last word.”
